FTRAX
is a web-based location tracking, alerting and reporting solution.
1rstWAP, a leading developer and provider of Mobile Messaging solutions,
is committed to providing its customers with innovative and affordable
asset & vehicle tracking solutions. Capable of integrating GSM**
and GPS location source data, overlaying this on various maps or
other graphical geographic schematics, providing textual detail
of location, traveling direction, speed of travel and other information.
Vehicles fitted with GPS receiver provide data to the central system
via various wireless modes including SMS, GPRS and even trunk radio
possibilities.
FTRAX-GSM
is a web-based location tracking solution designed for Telco Service
Providers and government security agencies. The target tracking
is based on the interrogation of the network for the vicinity of
the relevant GSM mobile device. In most Telco Service Providers,
the existing data is not immediately available to provide readable
text output but 1rstWAP can support you to prepare the cell database
and other associated information to enable a quality solution. In
addition to FTRAX, 1rstWAP
also provides other LBS solutions to which FTRAX
becomes just one offering.
FTRAX-GPS
is a web-based location tracking solution based on GPS source data
provided through a device installed within a mobile asset, such
as a vehicle. It is an excellent way for fleet owners and managers
to monitor precise location of their cars, trucks or vehicles. The
solution can provide fleet management with assurance and confidence.
Reports and graphic locations can be viewed through a PC browser
and also as text on a permitted mobile phone.
FTRAX-GSM
and FTRAX-GPS have been
developed to operate independently or as a single, totally integrated
application where mobile targets can be located using either GSM
and / or GPS source data. In essence, both are the same application
with the difference being in the configuration and backend supporting
infrastructure. The full features as described below, such as comprehensive
geo-fencing, are available no matter which data source is used.
The primary difference is that GSM is vicinity approximation
but involves simply a standard GSM phone whereas GPS provides relatively
precise location co-ordinates but requires an installed GPS receiver
inside the mobile asset.
** GSM Tracking is dependent
on policy and offering of local GSM Service providers. The platform
is ideally suited as a white-labeled solution for any GSM Service
provider who can offer this as a Location Based value-add solution
to corporate customers. GSM tracking is subject to privacy laws
to which the platform offers high level of security management and
audit controls. Targets in such situation can be any GSM mobile
phone without need of any GPS device. The platform fully integrates
GPS precise co-ordinates and GSM vicinity into a unique
single and seamless solution.

How
FTRAX works?
FTRAX-GPS
technical structure
Global Positioning System (GPS) is a technology
that uses the locations satellites to determine locations on earth.
It is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed from a constellation
of 24 satellites and their ground stations. GPS uses these "man-made
stars" as reference points to calculate positions accurate
to a matter of meters. It is an essential tool for FTRAX
because it allows for the gathering of data that location is highly
accurate.
- The GPS device (transceiver module) in the
vehicle constantly records its location from the Satellites. The
GPS device is also a communications device and a processor of
the data to determine speed and direction of travel.
- The FTRAX operator makes various system commands
through the simple application interface which generate instructions
to the GPS device which trigger a single or multiple responses.
- 1rstWAP infrastructure receives the data through
SMS/GPRS and processes it.
- The client accesses the location information
via web (PC) in graphical overlays on geographical maps together
with detailed textual reports or output as an SMS viewable as
text on a standard mobile phone.

FTRAX-GSM technical
structure
In conjunction with, or provided by local GSM
Service providers, the updated location data is retrieved by interrogation
of the GSM network. The target GSM device, be it installed
in the vehicle or carried by a person, will be queried to find its
location based on the nearest mobile phone cell and its sector within
the cell. The result of the query is then sent over the mobile network
signalling system to be processed in the Location Unit operated
by 1rstWAP.
The data is then made available over a secured
internet connection for display or remote access by the Location
Suite.

- The updated location data is retrieved from
the GSM network, without communication with the device.
- 1rstWAP receives and processes the data received
from the network and merges it with static database tables.
- The client accesses the location information
via web (PC) in graphical overlays on geographical maps together
with detailed textual reports or output as an SMS viewable as
text on a standard mobile phone.
